xip.io - Wildcard DNS Service

A really cool service I discovered last week is xip.io made my the team from Basecamp. What is xip? It’s a free wild card domain for testing. For example, if your IP address locally is 10.10.10.1 you could add 10.10.10.1.xip.io will resolve to your IP address. Great little utility

The entire internet is down / AWS East is offline

AWS US-EAST-1 went offline and it seems like half the internet goes offline with it. The outage seemed so bad it took the AWS status page also offline. Yikes, sending some HUG OPS to the AWS US-EAST-1 team.

I discovered some new podcasts

I started communiting again and with this I have time on my hands again to start listening to podcasts. Here's what I'm listening to at the moment.

Startups for the Rest of Us - Great podcast covering all aspects of startups, launching, and finding funding. You don't have to be a startup to find great value in this podcast

Digital Marketing Podcast - I find this podcast super interesting and discussing all sorts of technology surrounding SEO, SEM, and digital marketing. Great content if you have any content online.

…That’s this week’s theByte newsletter!

I’m Brian Christner, Docker Captain, Traefik Ambassador, and DevOps engineer. If you’ve enjoyed reading this, tell your friends to sign up for theByte newsletter or post a link in your company Slack.
